Monday saw the conclusion of cricket at the Manea Games with island teams completing 14 matches over two days of action packed cricket.

The Aitutaki men and Mauke women sides triumphed - taking home gold in the men’s and women’s competitions respectively.
It is the second Manea Games in a row the Aitutaki men’s team have picked up gold for cricket.
The men’s gold final was an entertaining showdown between the Aitutakians and the Mangaians as both teams headed into the gold final unbeaten.
However it was all gold for Aitutaki, as their experienced players proved too supreme to defeat Mangaia.
The Mangaian men have shown huge improvements since the last Manea Games and put on a spirited effort to collect silver while the youngsters from Mauke fought off a surprise brave attack from newcomers Atiu to take home bronze.

In the women’s competition, reigning 2011 Manea Games gold medallists Aitutaki were in with a scare early in the competition losing their first match against Mauke, however
Aitutaki put in some solid performances in their next two matches against Mangaia and Atiu to progress through to the gold medal final where they again squared off against Mauke.
Batting first in the gold medal final the Mauke women’s side put on a massive 183 runs to defeat Aitutaki by 126 to take their first gold for cricket at a Manea Games, Aitutaki taking home silver.
The youngsters in the Mangaian side and new comers Atiu treated the crowds to an amazing show of talent, the Mangaia women getting over the line, taking home bronze.
