Mauke, Mangaia lead Manea Games cricket

After day one of Manea Games cricket – Mauke women and Mangaia men lead the competition with two wins each.

Today is the final day of cricketing action and gives Aitutaki the opportunity to catch up on points with two matches.
At the conclusion of round robin play the third place getter will take bronze while 1st and 2nd will head into the gold medal final.
On Friday – Aitutaki men defeated Mauke men –Aitutaki secured 165 runs (S Munokoa 58 runs and 2 over’s with 2 maidens for 0 runs and 2 wickets) defeated Mauke 56 runs (J Murare 26 runs not out, D Akamoeau 2 overs for 22 runs and 2 wickets) with the player of the match going to Aitutaki’s Shane Munokoa.
Mangaia men defeated Atiu men with Mangaia collecting 52 runs (T Rima 20 runs,  J Tutu 2 over’s for 2 runs and 2 wickets) while Atiu managed 48 runs (T Mokoroa 11 runs, F William 2 over’s for 11 runs and 2 wickets) with T Rima of Mangaia the player of the match.
Mangaia men defeated Mauke men with Mangaia amassing 57 runs (T Rima 19 runs, R Kareroa 13 runs, T Rima 2 over’s for 6 runs and 3 wickets) while Mauke  scored 51 runs (T Akamoeau 25 runs, D Ngaoire 2 over’s for 14 runs and 2 wickets).
Men’s Placings – 1st Mangaia 6 points (2 wins from 2 matches), 2nd Aitutaki 3 points (1 win from 1 match), 3rd Atiu 0 points (0 wins 1 match) and 4th Mauke 0 points (0 wins 2 matches).
In the women’s division –  Mauke women defeated Aitutaki women smashing 48 runs (B Matapo 32 runs not out, A Tangata 1.1 over’s for 3 runs and 3 wickets, B Matapo 2 over’s for 2 runs with 1 maiden and 2 wickets) to defeat Aitutaki with 45 runs (R Tatira 14 runs not out). Player of the match B was Matapo (Mauke).
Mangaia women defeated Atiu women with Mangaia putting on a strong 67 runs (F Taokia 25 runs not out, M Atariki 23 runs not out, M Atariki 2 overs for 9 runs and 3 wickets) while Atiu were short on 64 runs (A Takaiti 20 runs not out). Player of the match was M Atariki (Mangaia).
Mauke women defeated Mangaia women.
Mauke won with a massive 122 runs (B Matapo 83 runs not out, R Moetaua 21 runs, T Tupuna 2 over’s for 3 runs and 1 wicket, B Matapo 2 over’s for 3 runs and 2 wickets) while Mangaia could only manage 25 runs (T Harry 17 runs not out). Player of the match B Matapo.
Women’s Placing– 1st Mauke 6 points (2 wins from 2 matches), 2nd Mangaia 3 points (1 win 2 matches), 3rd Atiu 0 points (0 wins 1 match) and 4th Aitutaki (0 wins 1 match).
