The sun was shining in Sano as the 2014 Pepsi ICC East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Women’s Trophy kicked off yesterday morning at Tanuma High School and the Sano Cricket Ground.

PNG and Samoa registered round one victories with comfortable wins over Vanuatu and the Cook Islands respectively.

In the second match of the morning at Tanuma HS, Samoa won the toss and put the Cook Islands in to bat.

The opening batswomen for Samoa Nathalie Tuilagi (21) and Moelagi Tuilagi (11) chased the runs down easily in just 4.2 overs.

The pick of the Samoan bowlers was captain Regina Lili'I with 3-5.

She was well supported by Hana Mauafu with 2-6.

The top runs scorer for the Cook Islands was Punanga Kaveao with a score of 10.

The Cook Islands will now prepare to take on PNG
