Vanuatu begins assessments

RNZ reports that extensive damage are emerging from parts of Vanuatu struck by Cyclone Harold yesterday, but communication with much of the battered region is proving difficult.

Fiji has confirmed another new Covid-19 case after testing another 25 samples at the Fiji molecular lab.

Air New Zealand is laying off 387 pilots as part of a wider move to reduce its workforce by at least 3750, it is understood, Stuff News reports.

The New Zealand government is working on a way to get 79 New Zealanders  from Vanuatu that was hit by Tropical Cyclone Harold.

Tropical Cyclone Harold strengthened to a category 4 system early this morning as it heads to northern Vanuatu, with the latest tracking map indicating it will be a monster category 5 storm.

Fiji has recorded another five cases of Covid-19, bringing its total to 12. 

Fiji’s sprawling, bustling capital, Suva, will go into lockdown from tomorrow after two cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the city.
