Letters: Only Cook Islanders should be deciding same-sex as crime

Friday November 08, 2019 Published in Letters to the Editor

Australia, New Zealand, America, England, made laws supporting the community of gender identity and homosexuality.

Cook Islands does not need to follow because the rest of the world pressures them to.

Let the Cook Islands people decide, let the Cook Islands residents have a say, it will be fair because they live there to make those decisions.

That is why they have an MP who they can make their voices known in Parliament.

Although gay sex is not an accepted practice, neither is children under 16 getting pregnant – I don’t see anyone in the world making a law in that segment.

Just leave the Cook Islands people to decide their own fate.

For us Cook Islanders who left the Cook Islands, too bad. For those who are not even Cook Islanders, don’t even comment.– Jimmy Ben
