Letters: A sad ode to a ‘bad’ government

Saturday October 19, 2019 Published in Letters to the Editor

"Me akara toku mata kite au mea e tupu nei, te akaroa e, kua puta roa ki roto I toku ngakau, te mama – ere!"

Yes! How true this song is, saying or singing out to our people of the Cook Islands and the world, and sad also because, it was “composed” by a “Cook Islander”.

It is also very sad’' to read and hear what's happening with all political matters governed and controlled by the Cook Islands Party, created and formed by my late uncle, Sir Albert Henry, back in 1965.

So 54 years later, it’s the same Party, but sadly and badly managed and controlled by Henry Puna and Mark Brown, who were only two to five years old, over 54 years ago.

They won the election back in 2010, again in 2014, and 2018, three terms, well done!

Just a few months ago, the government gave all MPs a pay rise, an increase of 45 per cent, the only country and government in the world, to do this!

Congratulations Cook Islands Party.
