Dear Editor,

I read this morning (September 25) the letter from Pouarii Tanner about the sad situation of the fishing vessel on the reef in Rutaki.

Essentially they are publicly shaming and blackmailing a local business to do what they believe is right. They are "short-fronting" landholdings and threatening to "expose" them to the world.

I wonder if they actually realise how much good work and non-business contributions Bill Doherty and Land Holdings contribute to the community? They certainly sound woefully ignorant of this.

I would love for them to explain how they would get the boat of the reef. People like this are so quick to criticise and shame and ridicule and are pathetically short on how they would deal with the situation.

Cannot believe this person would willingly and knowingly attempt to ruin a local business' (with local employees) reputation and then threaten (again knowingly) to bring reproach on our islands for their cause. How pathetic.
