And yet last week we had Deputy Prime Minister Mark Brown completely “confusion” about Fiji’s support for a moratorium. He ignored and disregarded the merits of the "precautionary principle", in the area of seabed mining in our Marae Moana, and the inherent risks to our fisheries stocks.
It is simply staggering how "confused" Brown is, when it comes down to the fundamental reality of food security.
For without food security of our own moana, we would starve, and be the laughing stock of the Pacific. Not only would we not have sustainable fishing providing income for our fishing families, but we would have forfeited our food security for seabed mining, and the supposed riches that will never happen in our lifetimes.
You're dreaming, Brown! Don't you think you've done our Ipukarea enough harm?
