Dear Editor,

You report four youths being investigated for stealing a rental car. What happened to them? Should we send them home and allow them to carry on their lives or should they be accountable?

Many would say, make them pay. Do the crime, do the time.

But we should first hear their side of the story as there could be a misunderstanding or mitigating circumstances leading to them and the rental car.

After all, how does it work with our MP wanted for allegedly taking a rental car in NZ? Is he the great role model for our youth?

Look, kids, you too can be inducted into Parliament as an MP for the Cook Islands Party-led government!

If it’s good enough for the goose it’s good enough for the gander. Maybe Albert Nicholas has good reasons and is innocent.  If he is then he has no reason to be afraid of the New Zealand Police and justice system – the truth will set you free, Albert.

And so too for the four copycats in Rarotonga.
