Barking with no dog in ring

The deputy prime minister sure is doing a lot of talking for someone who doesn’t even have a dog in the fight isn’t he?

To recap:

1.  This CIP party is currently a minority government, who have gone to great lengths to do deals with “independent” MPs to maintain their grip on power, including totally abandoning their own most loyal and longstanding former MPs.

2. They continue to maintain an empty seat for an MP who appears to now be residing overseas receiving “medical treatment”.

3. They are not fielding a candidate in this by-election, yet feel compelled to attack the one party who is at least trying to provide some semblance of a democratic process here. DPM Brown even seemed to be going so far as to suggest they “should really leave the seat unopposed”…  I mean, is he for real?!! Meanwhile, I do feel sorry for the long suffering taxpayer here in Rarotonga, who have a government they did not vote for and who now have to foot the bill for a by-election caused by an individual in Atiu who appears to be manipulating the political process for his own gain and in doing so, making an absolute mockery of our democratic system. If ever there was a case of the tail wagging the dog, this has to be it.
