Election results point to desire for change

Friday June 22, 2018 Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

Regardless of who takes over the running of the country now, one thing is for sure the people have spoken and the fact the key roles of infrastructure, health, environment and infrastructure are no longer in the hands of old and tired Cabinet ministers, says something about the mood of the people.

For too long have they asked for better roads and water, too long have they been suffering declining health care, doctors, nurses, and at one stage being declared by the UN as the most obese people in the world. Calls for better environmental planning and less toxic health-destroying sprays on our food have gone unheard. Well, the lack of change and betterment in these areas has resulted in those who were put in power to make a difference, are now out of the picture.

So let’s hope and pray those in line to take on these monumental tasks will do what is right, and what is going to improve the people and the country of the Cook Islands now and for the future of our children and our children's children.
