Dear Editor,

Wow, all it takes is a brief visit by New Zealand’s Prime Minister in a few weeks for the government’s road gang to swing into action resealing the inland roads around Nikao which lead to and from Tereora Stadium, where Ms Ardern is expected to open the new education facility at the country’s largest college.

It’s just too bad the road sealing project will, yet again, ignore the main road that desperately requires the most attention. Muri.

The village which, like Waikiki in Hawaii, is the primary source of economic output for the country.

The place where at least 100,000 tourists flock to each year to enjoy Muri’s fabled lagoon and the night food market.

The area where hotels, restaurants, motels, holiday homes and local stores buzz with excitement and flourish from the never-ending flow of visitors to our shores. This government needs to stop neglecting Muri and provide the quality of roads it has rightly earned and therefore deserves.

            Fair Go For Muri
