No show for CIP in Ivirua, says resident

Friday August 25, 2017 Published in Letters to the Editor

In response to the letter from Cook Islands Party president Nga Jessie in CINews on Tuesday, I would like to advise Jessie to simply use his brain.

Even with your chequebook diplomacy and door-knocking offering Ivirua voters “the sun, the moon and the sky,” the CIP still failed to beat Tony Armstrong. And you still really believe you will succeed in Ivirua in 2018?

No show, buddy! Because of your CIP government’s failure to assist the economic development of my island until recently during its almost two terms, many of my family have already left for New Zealand, and they ain’t coming back!

So, your government has been in for nearly two terms. You left our tribe behind and forgot us for all that time. We may be in the wop-wops buddy, but we ain’t stupid!

As for your 32 voters, many of them have also lost family members who have moved overseas. When the dust has settled after the by-election, we will all talk, analyse and laugh at all the promises made by the CIP, and Papa Tony’s support will grow even stronger. For real!

You may think you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you should remember you can’t fool some of the people all of the time.

You and your dodgy CIP government are on notice, Nga Jessie, your time is coming...
