Dear Editor, Having read your article regarding the recent Cook Islands Tourism Corporation request for photos and the 2012 tender for a complete production (corporate videos, ads for TV and Cinema, and a photo archive) I feel compelled to ask some simple questions, without entering into details of the tendering process itself.

The amount for the tender was $250,000 and a separate $28,000 for aerial footage was allocated but not included in the tender documents and unknown to the local bidders. For the aerial footage three quotes should have been sought (as per MFEM tender approval signed off by Mr Neves).

Will Cook Islands Tourism  reveal:

  • Where the three quotes are?
  • Who has got that extra $ 28,000?
  • Who provided the aerial footage?

Halatoa Fua stated in the article that Brave New World, the Australian company awarded with the tender, fulfilled all the tender requirements (that is, it provided destination videos, TV and cinema ads, and the photo archive evidently now being retendered). He also stated this material spread amongst the overseas offices of Cook Islands Tourism .

Can Mr Fua indicate one theatre where the cinema ads are currently displayed and when it will be possible to see one of them at the local Empire Theatre?

The fact that so far nobody has seen any of the “final products” casts a fair serious doubt on their existence and therefore on the tender itself.

Looking forward to seeing Cook Islands Tourism’s response.
