An egg, of course, is either good or bad. Most fruit and veges, on the other hand, can be enjoyed even if there’s the odd bad spot that must be cut out and discarded.
At Punanga Nui market this weekend, one of our favourite stallholders gave our family a couple of grapefruit that were bad on one side, good on the other.
And when there is so much wastage in modern life, it was a refreshing reminder to celebrate the good things.
I’m sure there’s a metaphor there somewhere …
