The rainy spell experienced on the island in recent days is not expected to end any time soon as the Cook Islands Met Service predicts it will carry on through the weekend.
Service director Arona Ngari said a trough of low pressure was lying northwest of the Cook Islands and would bring more rain..
He said rain would persist throughout the weekend and is expected to ease off by Monday for some sunny weather next week.
“Although there is expected to be some odd break in cloud over the weekend, generally wet weather is expected,” Ngari said.
“A trough of low pressure is where all clouds converge together and form a line and move as one whole line of cloud in an eastward direction bringing along rain.”
