The weather office yesterday issued a strong wind warning for all southern Cooks waters.

A bulletin issued by the Fiji-based Nadi Weather Forecasting Centre which is also the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre for tropical cyclones, at midday yesterday, said a strong wind warning will remain in force for all southern Cooks waters.

The report also said a trough of low pressure remains slow moving over the southern Cooks.

It stated a weak trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers lies slow moving over Penrhyn.

The bulletin predicts easterly winds 20 to 25 knots and rough seas while moderate to fresh easterly winds, gusty at times over the land.

For Rarotonga, occasional showers, heavy at times, have been forecasted for the week.

For the northern Cook Islands, the bulletin says some showers about Penrhyn, moderate to fresh easterly winds and moderate to rough seas are expected.

Meanwhile people are reminded to stay warm especially at night as some low temperatures were recorded lately.

The lowest temperature recorded yesterday was 22.9C.
