With expert advice, the Cook Islands government is identifying skills to support sustainable energy and climate change adaption.

Dr Sarah Hemstock from the Secretariat of the Pacific Community is visiting the Cook Islands to assist with efforts to sustain national programmes.

Dr Hemstock is keen to help in developing national capacities and technical expertise to respond to climate change adaptation and sustainable energy challenges.

During her visit she expects to meet with key climate change agencies and individuals to map out what is available or what requires assistance, and to facilitate as prioritised by the agencies the strategy for building capacities and technical expertise in this important sector.

The regional project is funded by the European Union, and the University of the South Pacific is also supporting its implementation at the regional and national level, with in-country coordination and project activity support.
