Rain and more rain…

Surface flooding was a common sight around Rarotonga yesterday, after four days of intermittent downpours.

This was the scene yesterday outside the Tapi Taio building in Arorangi, where the car park resembled a small lake. Rain continued to bucket down on Rarotonga yesterday, with 36.6mm recorded by the Cook Islands Meteorological Service in the 24 hours to 8am. Director Arona Ngari said there was a particularly heavy downfall early yesterday morning, with 7.7mm falling between 4am and 5am. And if you’re wondering if you’re ever going to get your washing dry, there’s some good news, with the Met Service forecasting that the rain will only last another day or two. - CS
