A free digital technology workshop to be held next week is a great opportunity for local enterprises to learn about digital marketing strategies to help improve their businesses, says co-director of Learning Solutions Cook Islands Mereani Talbot.

The Pacific Cooperation Foundation in partnership with the Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce and Learning Solutions Cook Islands will be running the two-day workshop.

The workshop revolves around learning the skills to use social media marketing approaches and website planning from local IT experts.

Guest speaker and Cook Islander, Dr Duane Malcolm, who has a PHD in biomedical engineering, a Masters in Engineering and a Bachelors in Engineering science, will be discussing a weather mobile app that he has developed.

Owner of Techtro solutions, George Ngatikao, managing director for Summerfield Service Centre, Nathan Nelio and Director of Te Araveka Ltd, Byron Brown, will be sharing their knowledge on risk management, back-up solutions, internet security options, e-commerce, and online payment solutions.

Talbot said the purpose of the workshop is to update local businesses on what digital services are available here in Rarotonga and overseas.

She said they are targeting small and medium enterprises and have around 30 people already registered.

Talbot said: “we are collaborating with local businesses to deliver unique and relevant information; this is to keep them informed about the existing digital marketing technologies.”

Brown said the workshop will help people learn about what options they have available for online marketing which can help improve customer engagement and increase revenue.

The workshop will be held at the Edgewater Resort next week Monday and Tuesday from 9am.
