Phone software issues prompt warning

Telecom has warned Samsung Galaxy S4 users that a new downloadable software upgrade issued by the smartphone manufacturer can cause problems.

Issues with the Kitkat 4.4.2 upgrade mean data services can be automatically activated without a customer’s consent.

As it was issued by Samsung, the upgrade is out of Telecom Cook Islands’ control. However the company is advising customers to check regularly whether the data services on their mobile phones have been activated.

Customers should talk to Telecom’s Customer Services team or call 123 for advice.
