Maritime Day makes a big splash

A seven metre, 150 horsepower-engined boat named “Yewola”, meaning “unbeatable”, will soon be hauling in fish around the coast off Rarotonga, thanks to a generous donation via the Japanese Grassroots Human Security Project.

Fruit and vegetable levies that were set to push up the price of some produce this month until November 30 have been dropped.

Following two thefts in the last couple of days, police are reminding visitors to the island to be on guard.
