Business Trade Investment Board minister George Maggie will be in China this week to attend the China International Import Expo (CIIE) which will be held from November 5 to 10.

The expo is a significant move for the Chinese government and aims to support trade liberalisation and economic globalization, as well as actively opening the market to the world.

Organisers say it will also help countries and regions all over the world to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, and to promote global trade and world economic growth in order to advance the development of an open world economy.

The expo is not only an open international cooperation platform built by China for presenting national development achievements to all other countries in the world and conducting foreign trade, China’s Ministry of Commerce says.

But it adds it is also an international public product provided by China for all the countries in the world discussing about major issues of foreign trade and world economy and improving global economic governance.

The expo will be attended by politicians, business people, exhibitors and professional purchasers from all countries (regions) who will be discussing about cooperation and trade expansion.

Meanwhile the remaining ministers are expected to remain in the country this week.
