Ponia is OPM’s new chief

Ben Ponia has been appointed the new Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister .

 

He replaces Bredina Drollet, who has taken up a job with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, Philippines.

Ponia, the former secretary of Ministry of Marine Resources before he was suspended this year pending investigation, took up the post yesterday with an official introduction by the Prime Minister Henry Puna to all the staff of the OPM.

In a statement, the Office of the Public Service Commissioner Russell Thomas said he was confident that under his tenure as Chief of Staff, Ponia would be able to ensure that the OPM delivers on major national development projects. Ponia, who has a public service career spanning 18 years, holds a Master of Science degree from James Cook University in Australia.     - RK
