Rumours of associate minister and ministerial chief executive appointments have kept the “coconut wireless” humming over the last two days.

However, there has been no announcement from the government regarding the appointments, which will be subject to the outcome of a number of petitions lodged against the results of last month’s general election.

CINews understands Terry Rangi has been appointed chief executive to new minister George Maggie’s office, but the position has yet to be officially confirmed.

A source yesterday claimed Nga Puna would be chief executive for new ICI minister Robert Tepaitau, but said Rose Toki Brown had yet to confirm who she would prefer to head her office.

The source said Patrick Arioka had tentatively been appointed associate minister of Agriculture and former Infrastructure Cook Islands boss Mac Mokoroa as associate minister of Infrastructure.

Former Head of Ministry Tingika Elikana, who won the Pukapuka-Nassau seat for the CIP, had been appointed associate minister of Justice, the source added.
