PM in NZ to address Cook Island achievers

PRIME MINISTER Henry Puna will reach out to Cook Islands achievers in Auckland next week when he delivers the keynote address at a special dinner arranged to honour tertiary graduates.

Puna has accepted an invitation to speak at the third event held under the auspices of Kia Rangatira – an organisation formed by well-known Cook Islands academics and leaders in New Zealand.

Kia Rangatira is a Cook Islands Maori Tertiary Education Advisory Group, formed three years ago as a means of uplifting and encouraging the success of tertiary students.

This year marks the continued building and strengthening of the organisation, which provides a focal point and platform from which Cook Islanders can be supported, recognised and honoured for their efforts.

The Prime Minister was invited to be this year’s Keynote Speaker by Chairperson Dr J Aumea Herman.

Puna said it is in the national interest for Government to engage positively with CI achievers and provide them the right encouragement and support to contribute to their country.
