Veteran politician and lawyer Norman George plans to stand for parliament in the 2018 General Elections.

In his weekly column for CI News, George said he had taken an audit on his physical and mental strength and had decided he was in good form to contest the next election.

“I have three times more energy and output than Henry Puna and Mark Brown combined, to burn the candle lights at night and attend two to three sittings of Parliament a day and will be able to accomplish in one year, more than Puna and Brown did in two Parliamentary terms,” the colourful lawyer said.

I will offer my services to the nation and the Democratic Party as an alternative leader and Prime Minister.

“I will not contest the leadership of the Democratic Party, because there is so much corruption and dirty tricks built into the selection process.

“I will stand back and invite the electorates to vote for the Democratic candidates who will support me as leader and PM. This will also encourage people who are leaving the Demo Party to come back. This offers the electors a better alternative.”

George said while he was obliged to consult his supporters in Atiu soon, he would also be studying and evaluating another electorate to stand for, outside of Atiu.

“One promise I will undertake is to have Henry Puna prosecuted for careless driving causing injury. Who was the other Minister who committed the same offence? He will also be looked at again!

“I have the skills, precision thinking, sharpness of mind, experience and energy, to out-perform Henry Puna five times over.

“And I’m the same age as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Our time may have now arrived.”

Like they say, "never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Unfortunately for our people neither idiots are a suited candidate!
