New principal for Apii Te Uki Ou

Apii Te Uki Ou have welcomed their new principal who will lead the school for the remaining five-months of the year.

Funds raised during the all-day Nukutere College gala last Friday will go towards much-needed resources and supplies for the school.

New Zealand High Commissioner Peter Marshall and his wife Pamela were invited to the primary school in Ngatangiia last Friday morning for the formal blessing and opening of the new playground equipment, paid for by the High Commission. 

Black Rock Preschool celebrated recent improvements to the playground area with a superhero themed day yesterday.

For the fourth year running Apii Te Uki Ou is holding its popular “Win a Trip to Raro” fundraiser.

Schools across the island are counting themselves fortunate after being given the opportunity to participate in a workshop on the Character Education Programme by New Zealand visitor Judy Dixon.

Virtues boost for schools

Over the past two weeks Judy Dixon, a former principal of Frankton School in New Zealand, has been working with the Ministry of Education providing refresher training for principals and teachers on the Virtues project, an internationally-acclaimed character education programme.  

Tereora College will hold their second Learning Conversations Day for parent, teacher and student interviews on Friday August 25 from 9am-3pm.

The Year 6 students of St Joseph’s School can justifiably feel proud each morning as they walk into their classroom and see their own art work hanging on the wall.
