ANZ Cook Islands head, Glen Stewart, said the move was in line with the bank’s commitment to provide practical electronic banking solutions for its customers.
“Our customers are steadily moving away from doing their day to day banking at the branch and choosing electronic banking channels such as ATMs and internet banking instead,” Stewart said.
“We’re excited about providing our customers with this new banking solution and the first of its kind for Cook Islands.”
A second touch-screen ATM would be installed in Muri over the next month, Stewart said.
ANZ has been in the Cook Islands for over 25 years and provides banking services for more than 7000 commercial and retail customers, also employing around 40 staff. The bank has branches in Rarotonga and Aitutaki, 10 ATMs, two outer island agencies and an extensive EFTPOS network.
