The aim of the review is to ensure that consumers on Aitutaki are being charged the best fuel prices possible.
It will include analysis and benchmarking of the current pricing arrangements in Aitutaki against ones introduced in July 2015 for Rarotonga and the other Pa Enua.
Earlier this year, the tribunal reviewed the new fuel pricing arrangements that apply to Rarotonga and the Pa Enua, but that excluded Aitutaki as the island has direct supply arrangements with New Zealand. The review is expected to look at all aspects of the fuel supply chain in Aitutaki and will include consultations with stakeholders. The tribunal will soon be inviting submissions from all interested parties.
The review is expected to be completed by early December and any changes to current pricing arrangements in Aitutaki will be introduced in January.
