Pets with pensioners will be in for a treat this Christmas with free mobile health checks offered by Te Are Manu veterinary clinic.

Veterinarian Ellen McBryde is thankful to the generous donations from local and international visitors and the many volunteers on hand during the December and January period.

“We have the staff and resources to visit homes of the elderly and perform health checks on their pets, and spread the Christmas cheer,” she said.

Appreciative Matavera resident Patricia Cowan has two precious cats Poreho and Laptop. “I feel privileged to have the vets come in and take care of Poreho. I’m lucky and it is great they are here.”

Purohu is 14 years old and has a skin infection, that with the vets’ help she is expected to quickly recover from.

The pet checks will start next Friday, and bookings are essential: Call Te Are Manu on  27719 and ask for Debbie or Ellen.
