George said he received a message from Justice secretary Tamatoa Jonassen yesterday “offering to discuss the termination”.
If they were not happy with the outcome of the discussion, George said, then they would file papers in court next week to sue for wrongful dismissal.
Heather has worked in the Prison Service for 39 years, working his way up to Superintendent.
George earlier stated Corrective Services Minister George Maggie appeared to be “displeased” with complaints from Heather and other in the Prison Service about political intervention in prisoner releases.
Heather was told he would need to reapply for his job. This month, he was advised he had been unsuccessful with his application.
“He was to pack up, hand over prison property and remove himself from the Prison Service on 2 December 2019,” George said.
“He was given a month’s notice of dismissal. No reasons, grounds, wrongdoing or even an explanation was given. This is after serving his country for 39 years.”
