Some lovelorn souls may be tempted to look close to home – but one bold man is looking across the ocean.
A Florida man is advertising in the Cook Islands for a wife between the ages of 47 and 79.
He identified himself to Cook Islands News as 57-year-old Abel Wood, and says he has lived in the USA for some years.
But he has been “unable to meet the right woman yet, hence my decision to try dating”.
He explains that he loves music, history, people, coffee (“a daily necessity”), drawing (“a soothing pastime”), painting, and walking (“ankle deep in water with eyes shut is blissful, unless you meet a wading shark”).
He adds that his favourite sport is American football; his favourite movies, Titanic and The Godfather; his favourite musics are jazz, pop, and rock; his favourite foods are Italian, French, and seafood.
He also enjoys holding hands and cuddling.
“I use to love to kiss, but haven’t done it in a while,” he says, sadly.
Wood says he’s open-minded, too, and he’s looking for someone who’s at once relaxed and ambitious, and possesses a good sense of humour.
“I don’t accept anything just because everyone believes it and I don’t close my mind to an idea just because it is strange or unaccepted by the general public,” he says.
“For me, tradition and customs are usually road blocks to progress and happiness.
“I don’t really care if it doesn’t seem like we have that much in common, because I believe if you like someone enough you will be willing to try new things. Just because I haven’t been camping doesn't mean that I wouldn’t try it!”
Wood ended his email with the following quote: “It takes many hands to build a house, but only two hearts to make a home”.
