The Are Pa Metua received a gracious donation towards the operational costs of their premises from the Cook Islands Business and Professional Women (CIBPW) on Tuesday morning.

About $3000 was raised at a High Tea event held last year at Coastal Kitchens, to raise funds for the senior citizens centre.

This is the first time CIBPW has donated to the Are Pa Metua whom they selected as their themed “inclusion” recipient.

CIBPW President Juanita Wynne was on hand to address the group and announce the contribution payments: $1000 was paid Te Aponga Uira towards the electrical bill, six month’s rent to the Airport Authority, the upkeep of the lawns for six months, and the purchase of three folding tables.

Rebecca Newnham who attends the facility, enjoys chatting and mingling with the group and the various activities they take part in, along with the other companions she would like to express their thanks to the CIPBW for their kindness and thoughtfulness.

Co-ordinator of Te Are Pa Metua, Apii Ben is appreciative of the assistance from CIBPW that eases the load of the running costs of the building.

The centre has an average of 18 to 20 senior citizens that attend the gatherings that are held three days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 1pm.
