But little did she know, there was something bigger and better instore for her.
Yesterday, she walked away with a brand-new Hyundai Kona car, thanks to Cook Islands Trading Corporation’s (CITC) $20 promotion which has been running for about three months.
“I was planning to buy myself a motorbike tomorrow (today) because I don’t have a ride. This is a perfect Christmas present and I thank CITC for this,” an excited Tiria said.
When the draw was being done by Miss Cook Islands, Reihana Koteka-Wiki at CITC Building Supplies, Tiria, who works for Bluesky Cook Islands, was on her way to help a customer.
“We went past CITC Building Supplies and we were wishing our names got picked up. It was a surprise when I got a call that I had actually won the car.”
CITC’s key brands manager George George broke the news to Tiria, who was overjoyed to hear about her win.
“It’s a dream come true. This is my first car and I’m so excited about it,” she said.
This is the second car giveaway from CITC this year as part of their 20th anniversary.
CITC general manager Gaye Whitta thanked their customers for their support in the past two decades.
She also thanked the firm’s suppliers who came onboard to help them support this event.
“It’s been a year of celebrating 20 years towards leading the way – 20 years since Trevor Clark bought the company and we have taken the company from strength to strength and we are very proud of where we are today,” she said.
“We are very proud of our staff and customer base we have. We could not have done this without the customers who come and shop with us every day.”
Meanwhile Tiria is looking forward to her new ride and taking “those who have been offering me rides,” for a spin around the island.
