Name: (Sophia) Allandra Ngametua Inamata Donnelly
Vaka/Main tribe: Enuamanu
Occupation: Operations manager
From a young age Allandra has liked to fix things. Her dad has always had a love of cars and bikes and fixing them, and it looks like this love of ‘fixing’ has rubbed off!
Allandra has a profound interest in biomedical engineering. In short, the combination of design, problem-solving and engineering skills with medical biological sciences.
Within the next couple of years Allandra is hoping to pursue study towards such a career. This decision evolved after a visit to our local hospital, where an aunt who worked there introduced her to some of the hospital’s machines.
Allandra is currently the hands-on operations manager for three family businesses – Courtyard Cafe, Bus Stop Cafe, and a market stall.
With such a heavy workload Allandra doesn’t have too much free time, but when she can find a spare hour or two and isn’t spending it with family, she likes to head out on the water for a surf. Her other hobbies include Cook Islands dancing, singing, reading and painting landscapes.
Allandra joined the pageant to gain confidence, improve her public speaking and in part to follow in her mum’s footsteps, as her mother Shena Murray entered the Miss Cook Islands pageant in 1981.
Allandra says her sense of style also comes from her mother – vibrant, flamboyant, modern and elegant.
Allandra and her chaperone Julia Evans have been quietly planning her entry into the pageant ever since the Miss Tiare competition in 2012, when Allandra became the youngest entrant to date. Allandra has also participated in Dancer of the Year (2013), Te Maeva Nui 2014 (Mitiaro) and The Voice 2014.
And even though her jobs mean she’s around food all day long, she’s quick to point out she likes cooking and makes a mean roast lamb, so look forward to that when you invite Allandra to a pot luck dinner!
