The Cook Islands Police Service formed an honour guard along the main street of Avarua yesterday afternoon to farewell and pay tribute to the late Dora Harrington, whose funeral procession was preceded by officers on two of the service’s new motorcycles.
Officers stood to attention and then performed a haka for Mama Dora, who was the mother of two serving police officers – Senior Sergeant Maevarangi Kirikava and Sergeant Aporo Kirikava.
She was also a Justice of the Peace, and the daughter of a senior sergeant, who was based in Aitutaki. Her husband (Kirikava) was also a constable on Rarotonga.
She is being laid to rest on Aitutaki.
