Businesses, sporting and community clubs put in a huge effort this year to bring smiles and joy to the children who keenly watched each float.
Fairy tale characters, the famous Mickey and Minnie Mouse, superheroes and even movie character Shrek caught the attention of hordes of young children during the parade.
The parade, organised by the community Tropical Christmas team, certainly achieved its aim of bringing extra Christmas cheer to the island.
The spectacular event saw businesses, sporting and community organisations bring joy and smiles to the faces of the children, who turned out in big numbers to watch the floats.
CITC key brand marketing manager George George said the parade was a great way for sporting groups on the island to say thank you to sponsors and their fans and for businesses to show gratitude to their loyal customers.
Spectators were treated to lollies and chocolates tossed from the floats. The event was followed by a special evening of late night shopping, with a lot of the action centred around the CITC main store where food stalls were set up in the car park..
Shops were open across the town strip, giving workers who find it difficult to get to the shops during the week an opportunity to buy Christmas gifts and goodies.
