With Christmas just around the corner, the spirit of giving is permeating the Rarotonga township.

Santa Claus and his sidekick Elfie hit the streets of Avarua on Saturday, handing out lollies and sweets to the young and not-so-young.

Many businesses around Rarotonga have their annual Christmas sales in progress and decorations are bringing a touch of extra festive cheer to the community.

Te Aponga Uira made it feel even more like Christmas, when they turned on the coloured street lights all over the island on Monday.

Thursday is bound to be a fun day, with the Santa Parade travelling through town, late night shopping and a fireworks display.

ANZ will hold their ANZ Blue Day on Friday and Santa and Elfie will make their rounds again on Saturday, visiting businesses in Avarua.
