A motorcyclist who died following a crash in the early hours of Wednesday morning was laid to rest yesterday at the Ngati Ora Burial Ground, after a service at the Arorangi Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Many condolences have appeared on the Cook Islands Bereavement Notices & Memorials Facebook page for Terry Tauraki, 29, who was travelling along Maire Nui Drive when he collided with an ironwood tree.

Messages of support for his family have come in from relatives and friends residing in Australia and New Zealand as well as all around Rarotonga.

It is the second motorcycle fatality on the island in less than five months and police urge drivers to take care on the roads and to also not mix alcohol with driving.

Police were unable to confirm as yet whether Tauraki was on holiday in Rarotonga at the time of the accident, or if he had moved back home from Otara in Auckland, New Zealand, for work.
