Staff at Cook Islands Building Supplies (trading as Rarotonga ITM) were surprised last week when former All Black star Liam Messam, rising star Pita Gus and sports manager Deon Smith turned up at the Panama store to help deliver building materials to customers in Avarua.

The visit was part of a promotion to meet the major sponsors of this year’s Raro Sevens Tournament, launched on Thursday.

It was arranged by tournament organisers Events Rarotonga who were making sure that Liam, Pita and Deon met sponsors and their staff, customers and members of the community.

Also attending the “meet and greet” event at CIBS in Panama on November 1 was the Arorangi Bears 7’s team which has received funding support from Arama Wichman to help equip their team and a representative of the Cook Islands Rugby Union Referee Association for the Rarotonga 7’s event.

Cook Islands Building Supplies support has been particularly aimed at tournament referees and event managers, as well as helping out with event infrastructure.

The company has also targeted all those hard-working people behind the scenes, including water boys, medics and medical tent staff.
