The stunning Miss Enuamanu, Lydia Tariu Simonis, was crowned the new Miss Cook Islands in the Miss Cook Islands Pageant Association event at the National Auditorium on Saturday night.

The 18-year-old Sydney-based model, who has links to the island of Atiu, claimed the Maine Kuki Airani crown after gaining maximum points from the various categories the seven contestants were judged on.

Simonis will now represent the Cook Islands at the Miss Pacific Pageant to be held in Fiji later this year.

Miss Pukapuka, Ernestina Bonsu–Maro, took the Maine Tepaeru title, while the Maine Purotu title went to Miss Tongareva, Porau Soatini.

The other contestants in this year’s event, which is held biennially, were Miss Palmerston - Bianca Barone, Miss Manihiki - Rosemarie Trego, Miss Aitutaki - Kathleen Enoka and Miss Takitumu, Rititia Sellars.
