Cook Islands Kitesurfing Association (CIKA), in close collaboration with KiteSUP, has organised this year’s Manureva Aquafest; which will offer plenty of excitement for spectators, featuring paddleboard races, a kitesurfing exhibition, beach bike races, swimming, market stalls, and music.
The famous Aquaman and Aquawomen event, which involves a stand-up paddleboard, swim and apnea (underwater breath holding) challenge, will add to the excitement.
“There are major prizes up for grabs for Aquaman and Aquawomen competitors,” says KiteSUP marketing manager Maria Tate.
“We are really excited for Saturday to come around and invite everyone to stop by, have a swim or a paddle, watch some great kiting and have a kai.”
CIKA asks for a gold coin donation for novelty races, both kids and novice divisions, as well as a $10 entry fee for Aquaman and Aquawomen competitors.
Manureva Aquafest is taking a “gap” year from being hosted in Aitutaki and instead is bringing all the fun and excitement to Rarotonga.
The 2018 Manureva Aquafest is already in the planning stages and will resume in Aitutaki next year.
Starting at 2pm the afternoon festivities will be held on the beach behind Koka Lagoon Cruises and KiteSUP. Parking will be available directly behind KiteSUP and deliLicious Café and the event will end around 6pm.
Tate says the Manureva Aquafest 2017 is a unique event committed to sharing the love for the South Pacific Ocean lifestyle and the passion for kitesurfing and water sports in the Cook Islands.
CIKA invites all those interested to join them and dive in to an afternoon of water activities and fun.
