The event is being facilitated by BTIB for traders with small to medium-sized and “grassroots” business. It also aims to encourage new start-up businesses.
The event will feature live entertainment, and other activities to create a family fun evening.
The last Easter festival was held in 2015, and featured an Easter day festival.
“This year we have decided to revive this event to start our scheduled events for the year,” said trade and marketing officer, Mona Taio.
“A variety of activities will be organised to keep everyone entertained. An extra feature at this year’s Tropical Easter night market is an Easter colouring-in competition for children aged three to 10 .
“We have six Easter goodie baskets for the winners, filled with assorted mouth-watering chocolate Easter eggs kindly sponsored by CITC.
“Thanks once again to CITC, our sponsors, for providing Easter baskets for the children to enjoy.”
The colouring-in competition judging will start at 5pm and prizes will be handed out at 7pm. There will be a treasure hunt at 6pm in the playground where children can hunt for clues to receive chocolate Easter eggs.”
Entertainment will include a new band on the Rarotonga music scene, “Harry & Tina”, playing live island music.
Team “Tamariki OH-MY-GOSH” will wrap up the night with a fabulous Cook Islands dance performance.
“We encourage the public, families and friends to come down with their children to the Punanga Nui markets on Friday, April 21 from 5pm-9pm to enjoy this fun Easter festival,” Taio said. - Release
