IF YOU’RE looking for something tasty for lunch today, head down to Aunty Toko’s food stall for what must be among the best barbecues, mitiores and ika matas at the Punanga Nui Market.

Ngatokorua Tauu specialises in a wide range of food. She sells it at the market every Saturday and as regular customers will tell you, her cooking will tantalise your tastebuds. And the best part, is you can also buy fresh fruit juice to complete your healthy meal.

Juices come in three flavours including passionfruit, mango and pawpaw.

I learned for myself about Aunty Toko’s delicious food at last week’s Constitution Day celebrations where she had a food stall running for the entire week.

Prices range from $6 to $10 and her fresh fruit juice costs around $2.50 for small bottles or $5 for the bigger ones. She also sells cooked taro and breadfruit for $6.

The mother of three children has been selling food for quite some time now and she says it’s the only source of income for her family.

Apart from selling food, she also sells fresh head eis made from fresh flowers which cost just $10.

Aunty Toko says she’s always been into cooking and she has been selling food for the last few years. Now that her children have finished school they are overseas pursuing their studies at university level.

The income she receives from selling food has made a big difference for her as a parent, enabling her to support her children’s education.

And she says she would love people to visit her stall at the market this weekend and taste her nice cooking for themselves.
