Paralysed woman needs cushion back

Friday August 07, 2015 Written by Published in Local

A paralyzed woman from New Zealand, who recently visited the Cook Islands for the 50th anniversary celebrations, is putting out an urgent call for her lost wheelchair cushion.

The woman’s friend, Patrick Ngaau, says the cushion was lost this week between Arorangi and Nikao.

He says they hired a vehicle from island Car and Bike Hire in Arorangi, had to change it, and during the transition from car to car the cushion disappeared.

“We’re not sure where the cushion ended up,” he says.

Ngaau says they have been trying to chase it down through the rental company but they haven’t found anything.

“I’m not sure if we left it on the roof of the car and it’s blown off onto the road or what.”

He adds that it is quite a big cushion, and so he is hopeful that someone has seen it.

“It’s big and black and has special foaming cushioning so my friend doesn’t get any sores or anything when she’s sitting in the chair all the time.”

If anybody has seen it, or picked it up, Ngaau says they would really appreciate its return.

“We really need it back as soon as possible because she can’t use the wheelchair without it. They’re very expensive to buy back home, so we would love if someone found it rather than us having to try buy a new one.”

Ngaau and his friend have already left the island, but they are asking people to contact his cousin Claudine if they find the cushion.

Anyone with any information can contact Claudine on 22971 or 54326 or alternatively, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
