New Zealand Air Force armourer Corporal Simon Bevington has a look down the barrel of one of 72 guns he checked and cleaned during a three-day gun amnesty on Rarotonga back in January 2008.

A marked increase in the number of people wanting to import firearms has led to the Cook Islands Police Service placing a ban on bringing guns into the country.
