Pacific Resort spends half a million in revamp

Pacific Resort Hotel Group (PRHS) is spending half a million dollars on upgrades and refurbishments at its resort in Rarotonga.

Work has already begun on a new reception, aiming to change the look and feel of the area.

This project will include new tiling and paint for the walls, as well as a new design concept for the area.

The new reception will welcome guests over Christmas, with plans to also make the front office a completely paperless department.

The two bedroom ‘lagoon view villa’ and the two bedroom ‘beachfront villa’ will also be renovated over the next few months.

This will include refurbishing the bathrooms, kitchen areas, mirrors, showerheads, fittings, utensils, furniture and a re-paint of some areas where necessary.

The three bedroom lagoon view villa will undergo a total re-fit that will bring its standard up to the other premium room categories around the property.

All guests in nearby room categories will be contacted prior to arrival and advised of the progress of the work, though staff expect the disruption to be minimal. The majority of the resort’s premium beachfront suites are also on the list, with bathrooms being the focus – including a clean and touch-up on fittings, mirrors and handles.

Both the villa and suite upgrades are expected to be completed by March 1, 2014, in time for the resort’s peak season from June to October.

These new upgrades follow a series of improvements over the past few months, including the establishment of an on-site commercial laundry facility, a full bathroom and bedroom linen upgrade, the installation of an IP-based PBX resort and guest telephone system, and the upgrade of air conditioning in the premium beachfront suites.

“Just as we are committed to continually improving our service standards and up-skilling our staff, we are equally committed to continually enhancing the quality of our room inventory,” says chief executive Greg Stanaway of Pacific Resort Hotel Group.

“Continual refurbishment activity provides us with a sustainable business, underpinned by ongoing confidence from our industry partners and strong levels of repeat business from our guests.”
