The Ministry of Health is all set to host the 12th Pacific Health Ministers Biennial Meeting which starts at the National Auditorium on Monday.

The three-day meeting, which will cover a wide range of issues, provides an opportunity to develop a unified view of health in the Pacific and set future directions for health while building on the concept of “Healthy Islands”.

Director of funding and planning Roana Mataitini, said the ministry had been preparing for months for the important meeting.

She said it was now “crunch time” to implement the plans.

“Everything is in order and falling according to plan.  We are all excited and looking forward to next week.”

The meeting will be attended by 125 participants from Pacific Island countries.

Members of the secretariat team from the Pacific Community (SPC) were the first to arrive on Monday, with the French delegation arriving on Thursday.

The first chief delegation was scheduled to arrive last night from Palau.  Mataitini said the remaining participants would arrive this weekend.

“Protocol services are provided and road courtesy is appreciated from road users.

“Otherwise the Cooks Islands government is ready to welcome our visitors to our shores with our Kia Orana Spirit!”
