The first of four workshops for families and carers of children with autism or a disability will begin tomorrow.

The week one session titled ‘Understanding Autism and Behaviour Management’ will begin tomorrow afternoon at 3pm at the Celebration on the Rock Church in Nikao.

The workshops will be run by Kerry Patterson and cover a range of different topics.

Patterson is a Behavioral Psychologist who has worked with both children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related disorders for over 13 years.

“Understanding autism and how to help improve the quality of life for people on the spectrum and their families is a life-long journey,” Patterson says.

She says many of the strategies covered in these workshops can be applied to any child or adult, whether they have a diagnosis of autism or not, and are relevant to all people with a disability.
